Fairchild products join light with electronics

Fairchild's newest business group provides optoelectronic products used for voltage isolation, sensing and information display. No matter where you go, you're likely to see our visible displays on just about all kinds of consumer electronic appliances. Whether you're checking on your flight at the airline terminal gate, programming your set top box, adjusting the signal strength in your stereo amplifier, or just heating dinner in your microwave oven, Fairchild's displays and LED lamps are lighting the way.

Many of our optoelectronic products help you every day in ways that are much less visible. For example, when you use the copier or desk top printer in your office, the infrared detectors inside these machines sense how your original is oriented and automatically choose the right paper. Just about every piece of electronic equipment uses optocouplers in its power circuitry to isolate and protect you from dangerous high voltages. And you can find our LED lamps and displays in countless consumer and industrial applications.

All of these displays, lamps, infrared sensors and optocouplers are made by Fairchild's new Optoelectronics Group, formerly QT Optoelectronics, which we acquired in May of 2000.

And, like the rest of Fairchild's high performance power analog, power discrete, interface and logic products, no matter where you go, there we are.
