Mydiscountbroker.com Acquisition:
June 16, 2003 - Ameritrade completes
the purchase of approximately 16,500 Mydiscountbroker.com online retail accounts
from SWS Group, Inc. (NYSE: SWS) for approximately $4.2 million, subject to
adjustment based on a post-closing review of accounts.
April 22, 2003 - Ameritrade announces a definitive agreement to purchase the Mydiscountbroker.com accounts.
2002
"What's Your Share" Ad Campaign:
October 23, 2002 -- The "What's Your Share?" advertising campaign debuts positioning Ameritrade as the champion of independent investors and demonstrates the importance of stock ownership and the value of trading tools.
New Products and Pricing:
October 19, 2002 - Ameritrade innovative new product suite and simplified $10.99 pricing goes into effect-which includes free Streamer for all clients and other features such as:
- Ameritrade's Command Center;
- Ameritrade 10-Second Guarantee(SM);
- SnapTicket; and
- Automated Clearing House (ACH) deposits.
Datek Merger:
- September 9, 2002 -The $713.7 merger officially closes and the new Ameritrade is created. The company is now the leading broker for online equity trades per day.
- September 4 - 6, 2002 - The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) approves the change of control of Datek's broker-dealer subsidiaries. Ameritrade and Datek shareholders vote in favor of the merger and announce the new board of directors.
- April 8, 2002 - Ameritrade and Datek announce the landmark merger.
