culture
As we seek opportunities to grow, it is only natural that we would choose companies in familiar industries with a similar commitment to customer service and conducting business with integrity.
When the owners of Douglass Fertilizer were considering selling their business, they were purposeful about whom they would choose. An acquiring company would need to have a vested interest in their employees, customers and communities. Thankfully, The Andersons was on the short list. At the same time, The Andersons was looking for an acquisition opportunity with a good track record to expand our plant nutrient presence. We were seeking a company highly regarded in the industry that conducted business with integrity and a strong commitment to customer service. As we discussed the possibilities, we soon began recognizing the strengths each company brought to the relationship. The process of integrating two companies always has its challenges. When there is cultural alignment, though, the process is faster and easier for employees and customers alike. And, there are rarely “big surprises.” As growing through acquisitions continues at The Andersons, we will seek out partners with a similar value system who also bring their own strengths for us to adopt. While we have a strong commitment to our heritage and strengths, we also recognize there’s always something new to learn.
