Harry T. Wilkins takes
on a new role moving
APEI forward

On January 1, 2014, Harry T. Wilkins assumed a new leadership role within APEI—heading up the company’s strategic development efforts and serving as chief executive officer of APEI’s new subsidiary, Hondros College of Nursing. “For nearly 10 years, Mr. Wilkins has served our institution with tremendous distinction,” said Dr. Wallace E. Boston, APEI’s president and CEO, announcing the appointment. “We have greatly benefited from his extensive financial, operational and business development experience. We believe these capabilities make him exceptionally qualified to lead Hondros College of Nursing, as well as continue to guide our efforts to consider and pursue strategic investments and acquisitions.” The company’s strategic plan calls for expansion into new high-growth education sectors, and this new acquisition represents an important first step toward establishing a strong presence in the healthcare field.

Formerly executive vice president and chief financial officer of APEI, Mr. Wilkins joined the company as chief financial officer of American Public University System (APUS) in January 2007, having served on the APEI Board of Directors since December 2004 and on the APUS Board of Trustees since January 2005. Mr. Wilkins’ career experience also includes financial and operational leadership as the former chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Strayer Education, Inc. “Congratulations are in order,” says Dr. Boston. “We are very excited that Harry has agreed to take on this exciting new opportunity.”
