Bunge's environmental monitoring program includes audits, inspections and plant visits. Environmental audits are performed by either consulting firms or by qualified Bunge personnel and help us improve our environmental performance. Our auditing program evaluates each plant's environmental legal compliance status, physical environmental control equipment and operations, environmental documentation, environmental management procedures and practices, pollution reduction, waste minimization and potential environmental issues.

Bunge has diverse operations in more than 30 countries, each with its own environmental regulations and standards. Each individual Bunge unit measures the environmental aspects of its activities. To ensure uniform company-wide reporting, we are developing a single set of key environmental performance measures based on generally accepted global indexes and environmental management and quality benchmarks that can be applied across our business worldwide and used in external reporting.
