Duratek Raises $2,300 for the American Red Cross

Duratek employees raised $2,300 to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina at a yard sale and blood drive at the Company’s headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, on October 1.

The event offered baked goods, a moon bounce for kids, raffles with prizes from local merchants, and food and refreshments donated by area merchants. All proceeds went directly to The American Red Cross, as did the 17 pints of blood collected through the blood drive.

Howard County Departments of Fire & Rescue and the Police provided a fire engine, ambulance, and cruiser for display. The local K-9 unit offered an educational demonstration. About 200 people enjoyed the day.

Employees Give to The Power of Hope Fund

We were proud to submit a total Duratek donation of $60,000 to The Power of Hope Fund at the end of October. Employee donations from across the country totaled $29,652, with the remaining match by Duratek. The Power of Hope Fund, managed by the Foundation for the Mid-South, is being used to transition victims from shelters and temporary housing back into their communities so they can rebuild their lives.
